Downloads
( Take a 3D walk around these car models )
These download packages include the VRides viewer program, allowing you to examine these high resolution models in full 3D.
You must have the following software installed:
Microsoft Windows XP or Vista.
Microsoft DirectX 9.0c ( 1.6Meg ) or better. If your computer is up to date, you probably already have this.
Microsoft .NET Version 2.0 Again, you should have this already if your computer is up to date.
Microsoft XNA (1.4Meg) This is new, you may not have it yet. Its a pretty safe install, just adding some libraries to the .NET folder.
Now you can download the model files below. Unzip the download folder and run the VRIDE.EXE program.
Press F1 for information on the keyboard controls.

Custom Painted Models Available!
I am happy to provide these models custom painted and detailed to match your favorite car.
I am asking $20 for custom painting, and $70 if you want parts changes ( ie chrome trim etc ) to better match your car. All proceeds donated to the Salvation Army.
If you are interested, download the free models first to make sure they run OK on your computer. Then send me some photos of your car at the email address below and I'll get back to you to discuss the project further.
Troubleshooting:
1. I am getting 'Send / Don't Send' errors when I start the ModelViewer program. Ensure you have installed XNA provided above. Unzip the download package into a new folder on your computer and ensure it contains a sub-folder called 'media'. Run ModelViewer from that new folder and not from inside the zip package.
2. The edges look more jagged on my screen compared to the pictures on the web site. This depends a lot on your video card. If you have a high-end video card, it will have a control panel that lets you set 'Antialiasing' or AA to 8 or 16 to smooth out the jagged edges.
3. When I move around the vehicle the movement is quite jerky Again, this is video card dependant. The Desoto model in particular is very demanding on the video card. I am getting 60 frames per second on one computer with an NVidia 8800GTX video card, but I get less than 8 frames per second on my laptop with its Intel 950 integrated shared-memory graphics chip. If you have a fast video card, you'll get smoother operation of you go into its control panel and set .Vertical Sync. to 'On'.
4. How do I load these models into Microsoft Train Simulator? Unfortunately you can't - they aren't MSTS models. They come with their own display program to allow you to view the models. I have converted some of them to MSTS format and posted them here.
Write to me at the address below if you need some help getting things working.
